A Hairy Mistake

Kara has beautiful thick curly hair. However, because my hair has always been so straight I have a difficult time properly taking care of her hair. Since I have been brushing her hair to get the tangles out I turned the back of her hair into a giant mass of frizz. Last night I was so sick of the frizz that I sat her down and chopped her hair -- BIG Mistake. In order to get rid of the frizzy sections of her hair I had to layer her hair (the first time I've ever layered someone's hair). Unfortunately in a couple spots I cut her hair a lot shorter than I had intended. Now -- no more braids, pigtails, ponytails. In fact all I can do is throw in a couple of barretts on the sides of her hair.Do any of you have kids with thick curly hair? How do you take care of her hair and keep it from getting frizzy?

I personally have curly hair - I most days just put a little gel or moose all over after my shower, scrunch, and leave it for the day. Curly hair really doesn't take too much work. I actually get the most completements the less I play with it. Don't worry about cutting parts too short they will grow back in and it's not as easy to notice with curly hair!

I have thick curly hair--very coarse--it is hard to control--mousse or spray gel do the trick, but some moms don't like putting product in little girl's hair. Put the products in wet and let it dry on it's own or scrunch it with a blow dryer so it's not soaked.

One other thing - brushing curly hair will make it frizzy. I brush it when it's wet, gel and scrunch but I use a blow dryer whenever it is already dry to get tangles out.

I've heard that if you use a wide tooth comb (remember the hair pic?) and a little detangler that it works wonders.
