We did small prefold diapers with cotton liners, pinned it all up and put plastic pants over top. With Clive my mom bought me some fabulous yu yun diapers. They're cheap all-in-ones though I never found them to be leakproof so I did plastic pants over top. Find the yu yuns on ebay for 3-8 bucks a pair. When we're out I do disposables all the way. Just too icky to deal with toting home a cloth diaper - especially a poopy one! Good luck to you!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00095630377321295014noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26682841.post-48713436498003228022008-07-17T19:00:00.000-05:002008-07-17T19:00:00.000-05:00I'm not much help either. I used cloth with Calvin, but didn't purchase them until he was over a year and then I used disposables on Sydney until she was big enough to fit into the BumGenius. When I first got cloth, I put them on Cal all the time even when we were out, but with Sydney I use disposables for church and most the time when we go out and about.
Like I said before, I know that probably wasn't real helpful; but I'm glad that you are going the cloth route. It's been a huge money -saver for us and I like it better for their skin as well.Triciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15125013534710522544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26682841.post-16603931021610637032008-07-16T17:58:00.000-05:002008-07-16T17:58:00.000-05:00I don't really have much advice about diapering a ...I don't really have much advice about diapering a newborn because I've never used cloth on the kids as newborns . . . I just started using our BGs on Josiah around 2 mos, when he was about 10 1/2 lbs. I don't think they would have worked well when he was any smaller. Even now, he still has the sort of "frog legs" when wearing a bulky diaper. :) I try to use my BGs as much as possible while we are at home, but I "cheat" and use disposables when we are out and about, and also for overnights. I may get to the point where I use cloth overnight, but right now Josiah ends up in our bed most nights, and I don't want him possibly leaking on our bed since we don't have a mattress protector.

I believe you can find newborn size diaper covers; probably Cotton Babies has them as well as other online stores. My sister uses cloth on her newborns and she does prefolds with diaper covers. I think she might use the Bummis Super Whisper Wraps, but I'm not sure. I'd suggest checking out the forums at www.diaperpin.com for tips on diapering newborns; there's usually quite a lot of helpful info there! Good luck!Carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00159961811540152967noreply@blogger.com
